Site Supervisor Job Description

Job Title: Site Supervisor

Department: Travel Crew

Reports To: Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Salaried/Exempt

Position Summary: The incumbent will have broad responsibilities as a working site-supervisor; managing a crew and overseeing projects, responsible for safety protocols, implementing site procedures, performing hands-on tasks; torch cutting and operating equipment.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Oversee day to day operations of the site.

  • Provide for site safety and security; devise and implement site policies and procedures.

  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of systems and equipment.

  • Handle emergencies appropriately according to established procedures; prepare and file accident reports.

  • Supervisor and evaluate staff; keep accurate records of employee attendance and timecards; provide positive direction to motivate quality performance.

  • Communicate with customer regarding job

  • Torch cut production scrap and obsolete scrap

  • Operate onsite equipment

  • Comply with Chase recycling policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

  • Comply with customer policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

  • To perform all other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor.

Successful incumbent should be familiar with the following equipment:

 

  1. Torches

  2. Torch gauges

  3. Torch hose repair

  4. Small hand tools

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma

  2. 3-5 years of prior experience in scrap Industry

  3. 3-5 years supervisory or managerial experience

  4. Previous experience torch cutting scrap

  5. Proven leadership working with a crew.

  6. Confidence to thrive under pressure

  7. Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

  8. Valid Driver’s License

  9. Ability to travel; out of town and overnights as needed.

  10. Ability to wear required PPE; chaps, jacket, nomex hood, safety glasses, hard hat, face shield, gloves and Respirator.

  11. Ability to work long hours and weekends

  12. Must be flexible; able to work either day shift or night shift as needed.

  13. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

  14. Self-motivated individual.

  15. Ability to bend, squat, and lift frequently.

  16. Ability to lift-up to at least 50 (fifty) pounds.

  • This position requires work outdoors and exposed to outdoor environments.

  • This position requires working leadership and working in a team

  • This position requires verbal and face-to-face contact with others on a daily basis.

  • This position requires working around heavy equipment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work –

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. But some after-hours may be required.
